The now famous for its taste and health benefits mineral water received its name from the village Kuvaka in the heart of the Volga region.
A spring with clearest water had long been known in the village, but it was only after Earl Voyeykov became the landlord in the early 20th century that the real history of Kuvaka water began. Thanks to his exceptional management skills and engineering insight, the water became known throughout the country and abroad. The engineers built the system of water collection from seven mountain springs, and the bottling plant for carbonated water was opened in 1913.
Already in 1914 the mineral water in branded wax sealed bottles became widely known in Russia and even received a prestigious prize at the international trade fair. With the productive capacity of his plant at 100,000 bottles per year, Voyeykov managed to promote the water in Paris, where it later enjoyed stable popularity. After a period of recess caused by political and economic turmoils of the 20th c, the Kuvaka water production underwent restoration and enjoys a popular revival. The plant’s museum was opened in 2010. Factory tours are also available.
The museum tells the fascnating story of Kuvaka water. One of the most popular exhibits is the miniature model of the original production, carefully recreated on the basis of factual materials. The tasting room offers the opportunity to try the product range now manufactured at the plant, including highest quality organic drinks. The guests can also pay a visit to a trout-breeding farm with the 225 metre canal that is fed by clear spring water. The museum tea-room enjoys unfailing popularity among the visitors. The room is in a separate building, a spacious log house, built according to the standards of previous centuries. Here, the objects related to everyday life and food culture of different peoples that have been living the region are on display. Even the tea ceremony is conducted according to old customs and is accompanied by a fantastic selection of dishes prepared and served according to age-old traditions.
